You can’t´a buy happiness , but you can always buy a kite…

For the majority of people, the New Year’s resolution is pretty much the same such as getting healthier, travelling more, and so on. Basically, all the goals from New Year’s resolution boil down to something that can make you HAPPY! What if I told you that you could achieve all of that by doing one single thing? Yes, I am talking about kitesurfing and how it can help you get healthy, experience new cultures, travel more, and be HAPPY!

Kitesurfing allows one to travel to exotic and beautiful locations around the world and experience true freedom. When you are using your kite to move forward in the sea with the help of wind power, there’s a sense of calm, minimalism, and happiness that can’t be described in words! So, in short, kitesurfing can make you feel true freedom and happiness, which can’t be said about every other sport out there.

Now you must be thinking that if kitesurfing is so great, then where should one go to get the best kitesurfing experience of their life? Before we get to that, let’s look at some reasons why Kitesurfing is such a great sport and how it can make you happy!

4 Reasons for a kitesurfing trip

Without wasting time, let’s see the reasons why a kitesurfing trip is great:

Travel around the world

For most people, travelling around the world is something that always fills them with excitement. So if you are like most people, then I have some good news for you – Kitesurfing allows you to travel to exotic locations around the world so that you can experience different cultures!

Furthermore, a lot of people just fail to bring together the motivation to travel… But with kitesurfing, you will always have a compelling reason to go out and experience the freedom of water! So if you just need a good reason to travel rather than just sunbathing on a sandy beach, go for kitesurfing.

Make new Friends

Although you can meet interesting people when travelling, it can be difficult to make friends. As you know, it is usually easy to make friends if you are surrounded by people who are like-minded and share similar interests. In the case of kitesurfing, you get a nice community that is willing to help each other and get together. And since you will all be participating in the same sports, it becomes easy to make exciting friends from all over the world.

Get Healthy

I have never met anyone who doesn’t like to get healthy, build muscles and get lean… So if you want to get all of that while also participating in exciting sports, then look no further than kitesurfing!

You can compare kitesurfing with a full-body workout that can tone all the major muscles in the body. In the start, you may not feel anything, but after a few days, it will become apparent that it is a hardcore workout when you start to experience sore muscles. But over time, you will get used to this sport while also building muscles through the process.

Experience Fresh Air

If you are living in a major city, then you are likely breathing smoke, dust, and a lot of other harmful stuff mixed in the air. So if you want to experience fresh air and get a break from all of that, there’s no better way than to go kitesurfing.

During kitesurfing, you will be breathing fresh air throughout the day, and whether you believe it or not, it can bring a lot of positive changes in your body and personality!

The Best Kitesurfing Trips in the World

Do you want to experience the best kitesurfing trip? Then you should visit one of the spots mentioned below:

1. Kalpitiya, a must-to-go when a kite trip to Asia

The first destination on our list is Kapitiya from Sri Lanka, where you can get one of the best kitesurfing trips of your life. The thing which I like about Kalpitiya the most is that it remains windy for 9 months in a year. Furthermore, Kalpitiya has earned the title of “Wind Capital of Asia” due to its consistent and all-year-round winds. So for any wind sports, such as kitesurfing, there’s no better place than Kalpitiya in Sri Lanka!

In Kalpitiya, there are 14 fully developed lagoons which mean that there will be no shortage of free space. Furthermore, the overall conditions in Kalpitiya are also very beginner friendly, and with numerous kitesurfing schools, you can also learn a lot! However, that’s not to say that Kalpitiya is only for learners or beginners – Even independent riders can enjoy the consistent and steady winds of Kalpitiya.

In Sri Lanka, the summer kitesurfing season starts from December to March, and the winter season starts from May to October. But for the best experience, it is recommended to go during the middle of seasons to ensure good wind.

2. Jericoacoara, a top-class kitesurfing trip in Brazil

One of the best things about this spot is that it is usually windy every single day when you visit from August to January. In general, the kitesurfing season in Jericoacoara ends in December, but it can extend to January as well, so I would advise only visiting during August – December for best conditions.

Jericoacoara is situated right next to a famous National park as well, which makes this sandy village a lot more appealing and exciting. And since the wind is usually good and consistent, you will have no problem riding even the smaller kites.

If I have to sum up Jericoacoara, it would be tons of downwind, great vibes, white sandy beaches, and tons of no-wind activities. And the fact that it is a remote village in Brazil where you can still explore true nature makes it an even more amazing choice.

3. Cabarete, the best kitesurfing vibes in the Caribbean

The 3rd kitesurfing trip on our list is Cabarete from the Dominican Republic – This is a great spot for all types of wind and water sports, such as surfing, windsurfing, SUP, and kitesurfing. Furthermore, the environment of Cabarete is also breathtaking due to its deep Blue Ocean, sandy beaches, palm trees, and great local culture.

And when you want to take a break, you can participate in a lot of other activities such as kickboxing, Yoga, and so on. Cabarete also offers a lot of great local food and fresh fruits (Mangos & Avocados are best).

Did I mention that Cabarete is a cheap and affordable option considering the prices in the Caribbean? Yep, that’s another plus point for this spot!

The best time for a kite trip to Cabarete is during June and July, when you can get the best and strong winds. But if you are looking for lighter winds, then visit anytime between December to April.

4. Cape Town, the “Kings of the Air! destination

If you are looking for a unique vibe, then book your next kitesurfing trip to Cape Town from South Africa. When we talk about famous kitesurfing spots around the world, then there’s no way not to mention Cape Town.

The best part about Cape Town is that it offers the whole lifestyle and vibes that you can expect from a big city. So if you do not want to give up the comfort of a big city and still want to kitesurf, then Cape Town is the winner!

The wind is usually consistent and strong in Cape Town, which is why it has also hosted the “King of Air” along with several other competitions/tournaments.

You can catch the best wind in Cape Town (South Africa) from November till February – During these months, a lot of kitesurfers frequent this spot, and you will even spot many pro kitesurfers here too!

The number 4 kitesurfing trip in our list is Cape Town

5. Le Morne, a dream kite trip to Mauritius

Mauritius is the textbook example of an exotic location full of blue water, amazing vibes, and a unique local culture that you can’t find anywhere else! And when we compare Le Morne with other spots, one of the biggest advantages is that you will find pretty much everyone speaking French and English. So as a tourist and a kitesurfer, communication will not be a problem in Le Morne.

If we look at the kitesurfing conditions in Le Morne, it offers world-class conditions with flat water, strong winds, and even waves for the wave surfers. Overall, this is a very safe island with a laid-back approach and great vibes.

The best time for a kitesurfing trip to Le Morne is between June to September, when the wind tends to be consistent, which makes it ideal for surfers and kitesurfers alike.

amazing kite trips: Le Morne

 Conclusion

If you want to experience the best kitesurfing trip of your life, then you should visit any one of the spots mentioned above. All of these spots are famous for being windy for most months of the year, and besides wind, you will also find world-class conditions that you can expect from a great tourist spot. So when you are not kitesurfing, you will still be able to have the best time of your life!

In the end, I would like to put a word of advice… The months of December, January, June, and July are peak months for the tourist and kitesurfers alike. So if you plan a trip during these months, be ready to expect higher flight + accommodation prices and more crowd. However, you can mitigate that by booking flights earlier and even making accommodations ahead of time.
